Key Person
Each child is assigned a key person who is responsible for liaising with you and monitoring each child’s development within the seven areas of learning and development. The role of the key person is to keep a watchful eye – however they will not be with your child constantly as we encourage interaction between all staff and children.
Weekly Communication
Every week the Nursery staff produce a weekly communication letter outlining all the lovely activities the children have taken part in that week. This is sent out as a parentmail and posted on the website in the Parents Area.
Here is a sample of a week at Peaslake nursery.
Any activity that requires an immediate response will be communicated to you at the end of the relevant session.
Monitoring & Assesment
Each child has a Foundation Stage Profile that is designed to monitor their development and achievements and is filled in regularly by their key person. The children are continually observed during play and planned activities so we can plan the next step in their learning.
A portfolio of each child’s special work and photographs is kept throughout their time at the school. The children take them home to keep when they leave us.
You are invited to our termly open mornings where you can look at your child’s work and achievements.
We also hold parent consultations twice a year to discuss your child’s learning, development and next steps.
