All children are learners with a natural curiosity. The best way to assist and enhance this is to recognise that they are also individuals who learn in different ways and at different speeds.
When planning the curriculum we therefore consider the needs and stage of development for every child in our care individually and not necessarily based on their age. We use this information to create a challenging, exciting and enjoyable experience for each one.
Learning at Peaslake Nursery involves a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities. Play is essential for every child’s development: it builds their confidence as they learn to explore and relate to others.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum from Nursery through to the end of the Reception year. There are seven areas of learning and development:
