Outdoors
We use the outdoor areas on a daily basis, weather permitting. We have a covered outdoor classroom that is invaluable for group activities as well as a large range of outdoor play equipment including a climbing wall, climbing frames, football goal, large sandpit and a range of bikes, scooters, bats and balls.
The nursery has an outdoor morning once a week, when we spend the whole session outside participating in planned outdoor-related activities, free play, walking or exploring the local woods and village.
Sports and drama
We enlist the help of a specialist sports teacher who leads a weekly active session, and the children enjoy regular musical theatre sessions at Dance-a-ramix in Peaslake as part of the curriculum.
The snack bar
Our nursery snack bar is open from 9.30 – 10.30 each morning. It’s not just an opportunity for little ones to recharge their batteries: it’s also designed to encourage
independence and promote healthy eating.
Each child brings in a snack from home. They help themselves to milk and water and after eating they then wash up their own cup and plate.
The children take turns to help prepare the snack bar each day, which is invaluable in encouraging team work, socialising, counting skills and confidence.
Foundation Stage Group
On two afternoons per week we have a joint Foundation Stage group, where the Reception children join the older nursery children for an exciting session focusing on ‘Understanding the World’.
We cover a wide range of fun, exploratory activities and the children benefit from sharing their imaginative thoughts with one another.
Parent and child assemblies
The main school holds an assembly for children and parents every other week which nursery parents are welcome to attend if they wish.
Both nursery and school children attend the end of term assembly.
