Welcome to Peaslake Nursery - a nurturing, nature-inspired setting where children aged 2 to 5 flourish through play-based learning. Open term time, 8:45 am to 3:00 pm.

We provide a thoughtful balance of adult-led learning and child-initiated play, creating meaningful experiences that support every child’s development across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Our nature-inspired setting provides a warm, cosy space where play-based learning allows children to discover and create —nurtured by curiosity, community, and the gentle flow of the seasons.
WHAT OFSTED SAY
“ Children benefit from a curriculum where they are recognised as unique individuals who are naturally curious.”
OFSTED 2023 (Click the Ofsted logo for the full report.)

We also offer a variety of enriching weekly sessions including:
Forest School adventures
Our woodland classroom, tucked just behind the village playground, provides the perfect base for outdoor exploration. Children enjoy woodland obstacle courses, bug collecting, and nature crafts, while also venturing into the beautiful Hurtwood woods for bigger adventures. These experiences help build resilience, creativity, and a deep connection with the natural world.

Yoga and mindfulness time
Each week, children take part in Cosmic Yoga sessions filled with exciting, story-themed adventures. Yoga poses are woven into the narrative, making it fun and engaging, before ending with a calming, mindful relaxation time to support wellbeing and focus.
Music and movement
We host Little Bears Music weekly – a joyful session open not only to our nursery children but also to the wider community of little ones. With props, puppets, and a wide variety of musical instruments to listen to and explore, children discover rhythm, movement, and the joy of making music together.

French language fun
Led by our very own French native teacher, Julie, these sessions bring language learning to life. Through songs, games, and playful activities, children naturally absorb new vocabulary and begin to enjoy the sounds and rhythms of French.
Cooking and food discovery
Cooking with Sian is always a highlight! Children create both savoury and sweet treats, sometimes using produce grown in our very own nursery garden – from courgettes and herbs to freshly picked strawberries. Along the way, they explore new flavours, practice a wide range of cooking skills, and gain confidence using real tools.
