Our Heart & Values
At Peaslake Nursery, our heart lies in nurturing the whole child — emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Rooted in community and inspired by the natural world, our values are simple: kindness, curiosity, connection, and joy. We believe in creating a calm, respectful environment where children feel secure, supported, and free to express themselves. Every child's individuality is celebrated.

Spaces that Spark Wonder
Our indoor and outdoor environments are thoughtfully curated to ignite curiosity and delight. Wooden toys, soft lighting, and open-ended materials inspire imagination, while our ever-changing nature-rich outdoor areas offer endless opportunities for exploration. We believe the space around a child shapes the world within them — so we craft ours with care, beauty, and purpose.

Proudly Hygge Accredited
Peaslake Nursery is proud to be Hygge in the Early Years accredited — a philosophy that reflects our deep commitment to comfort, calm, and connection. Inspired by the Danish concept of hygge (hoo-gah), we create environments that are warm, welcoming, and emotionally nourishing. Our days are thoughtfully paced to promote wellbeing and a genuine sense of belonging.

Nature as Teacher
Nature is at the heart of our learning. The woods, the weather, the seasons — all are teachers in our curriculum. We believe in the power of mud kitchens, bug hunts, and open-ended outdoor play to teach resilience, empathy, and awe. At Peaslake Nursery, children grow not only in nature, but with nature — building strong foundations for life.
"Children are passionate about and interested in the natural world.....They lead their play, making choices about what they would like to do." May Ofsted 2023

A Day of Discovery
Each day at Peaslake Nursery is an adventure in learning. From the moment children arrive, they are invited to explore, create, imagine, and play. We follow a gentle, consistent routine that offers both security and the freedom to grow — promoting independence and offering meaningful opportunities for choice.
Our days are a perfect blend of child-initiated exploration and adult-led learning, carefully designed to spark curiosity and confidence. Children enjoy a broad range of enriching weekly experiences, including yoga, cooking, French, music, forest school, and gardening — all thoughtfully woven into our rhythm of the day. Whether painting with natural materials or sharing stories under the trees, every moment is an opportunity for discovery, connection, and joy.
Learning for Life
At Peaslake Nursery, we are committed to providing equal opportunities for every child to thrive, whatever their background, needs, or starting point. We offer an inclusive environment where each child is valued and supported as an individual.
Through a rich mix of play-based learning and purposeful teaching, we help children develop essential life skills — from putting on their own coats to resolving conflicts kindly and expressing themselves with confidence. We foster independence, resilience, and a love of learning that stays with them far beyond the nursery years.
Our nurturing approach lays strong foundations for school and for life — with play at the heart of it all.
